One Bad Road
Trip!
While
traveling
through Fort Worth, Texas we found ourselves temporarily stuck on the
side of the road. We
were traveling about 65 mph heading towards Austin when we hit a massive
pot hole in the road. The rear
passenger side trailer tire snapped clean off and went flying across the
median striking a car from the side
and then smashing their windshield. Thankfully no one was hurt during
the incident.
Luckily we found a local tire shop near by. Since it was the hub
that snapped cleaned off, we needed
to have it welded back on. Nichole looked in the phone book at random
for the nearest welder, and oddly
enough she called the one welder that happened to witness the whole thing.
He was only ten cars behind the incident when it happened. Weird! It was
about a two hour delay before everything was fixed and we were
back on the road.
After arriving at the North Austin Plaza Hotel in Austin, we checked in
and parked the trailer in front of the hotel.
Sometime between 4 and 6 a.m. someone broke out the passenger side
window and stole the in-dash t.v.,
digital cameras, an i-pod and other miscellaneous items.
Since
it was raining the police didn't show up because you can't take
fingerprints in the rain...
A new
window
was located at a near by auto glass shop. They said they can’t work in
the rain so we had to go pick it up ourselves and install it. Once we
got there Mark installed the new window and we were finally headed
to the show on Friday afternoon!
After putting what had happened behind us we enjoyed our stay and the
rest of the car show. Now it’s late Sunday afternoon and time to head
back home for a long eight hour drive back to Sayre, Oklahoma. We ran
into stop and go traffic between Temple and Waco, Texas. We were passed
by a flat black doored POS
Chevy truck that was dragging and throwing sparks besides us. I guess
that was his way to show respect?
About two miles down the road the doored Chevy truck side swiped another
truck in front of us. When that
truck was hit it caused the truck behind him to cut off the car in front
of us. The car in front of us moves to the
left shoulder and stops! We had no choice but to slam into him on the
shoulder! We had no other place to go!
The trailer climbs the wall barrier and then crashes back down bending
the trailer ball hitch.
